Inside Lebanese Jeweller Ali Khalil's Sparkling Universe. Ali Khalil, Belgian-born jeweller of Lebanese origin, founded LEVUMA, an exclusive high jewellery house rooted in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2016. What was supposed to be a side passion turned into his life’s work. Before dedicating himself entirely to jewellery in 2018, Khalil enjoyed a successful decade in London’s financial world. Khalil’s family diamond legacy spans over four generations – from Lebanon to Sierra Leone, South Africa, London, Belgium and Dubai – giving him a uniquely multicultural perspective on rarity and craftsmanship. Beirut is a source of inspiration for Khalil. “It is a city of ­contrasts – at once historic and modern, resilient and endlessly creative. Alongside it, Dubai’s vision and Tokyo’s precision shape the spirit of LEVUMA – timeless, visionary and masterfully crafted,” he says. With LEVUMA, Khalil set out to transform a family legacy into a modern maison. The house today serves an international private clientele of collectors and royal families, with creations seen on global icons like Mariah Carey. The jeweller also reveals that he would love to see, without a doubt, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser wearing LEVUMA's designs. “The diamond always dictates the design; I study its light, proportions and uniqueness, ensuring the setting elevates rather than it overwhelms. Once the design is refined, our Belgian artisans dedicate hundreds of hours to bring it to life with meticulous craftsmanship. The result is not just a jewel, but a legacy – a creation that carries meaning across generations,” shares Khalil.
